Description
‘Cuarenta Vendimias’, a range of wines born in the 2014 vintage with the aim of paying tribute to the oenologist Ángel Calleja, the winery’s alma mater for more than forty years, who The baton has passed to Oyagüe and the young winemaker Roberto López Tello. Calleja, however, is still very aware of the future of the winery as a member of the Governing Council of the cooperative. The ‘Cuarenta Vendimias’ range is made up of the original Verdejo that is made under the recipe of 40 years of Ángel Calleja’s legacy, while the Ribera del Duero 9 months in barrel and the Sauvignon Blanc are vinified under the watchful eye of Elena M. Oyagüe .
It is a red with an intense color, cherry red with purple reflections and the nose is penetrating and clean, with hints of licorice and ripe black fruits, blackberry, and notes of Very ripe plum on a spicy background in total harmony with the hints of mocha and roasted from the barrel. On the palate it is powerful on the palate, with complexity and structure, well assembled sweet tannins, with the memory of the notes of black berries, spicy touches appear in the retronasal. It has a very long aftertaste.
