GREEN & SOCIAL WINE: ORGANIC & VEGAN CERTIFICATIONS AND SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
Bodega Cuatro Rayas is aware of the importance of being responsible for the environment; therefore, it takes special care with its impact on the social and natural environment where it carries out business activities. With its seal ‘green & social, Bodega Cuatro Rayas protects the Cooperative’s commitment to respect for the environment and the people who live in it. That is why it has developed its own hallmark to bring to light the winery’s dedication to a green philosophy with a central focus of attention on the well-being of people.
Also, Cuatro Rayas complies with the requirements and needs of organic production, as certified by the EU organic farming logo and the CAECyL logo that are shown in Cuatro Rayas Organic Verdejo, Cuatro Rayas Organic Tempranillo and Green & Social Verdejo. Also, all of them are certified by the European Vegetarian Union, which proves that all the products used in the winery practices are considered vegan.
Furthermore, under the tight monitoring of the Vineyard Technical Team of the winery, the winegrower members of the cooperative are committed to sustainable practices. An example of this is that the manure used is organic farming certified, plots have a vegetation cover, and bio-stimulants and phytoregulators usage to make the plant stronger against possible diseases and, above all, a more significant number of tasks in the field are performed.
Only organic farming certified oenological products are used in the winemaking processes of these wines. We take special care with the levels of sulphur dioxide, as the permitted concentration is 30mg/L lower than for non-organic wines. The winemaking in white wines takes a pre-fermentation cold maceration at 6 °C for 4 hours. Fermentation at a controlled temperature, 12 °C, to keep the variety aromatic profile for approximately 15 days. Clarification with bentonite. Cold stabilization. In red wines, a cryomaceration with liquid CO2 is performed, which leads to slightly carbonic maceration. Subsequent alcoholic fermentation at 20 °C for 15 days with daily rack and returns. Clarification with vegetable protein and cold stabilization.
