The ‘Berliner Wine Trophy’ awards a Gold medal to four brands of the co-op winery: Descomunal Verdejo 2020, Green & Social Verdejo 2020, Amador Diez 2017 and ‘61’ Dorado en Rama, safeguard of the Palomino variety in Rueda.
Cuatro Rayas’ premium wines add three new recognitions to the medal table of the winery with the Golds Amador Diez 2015, Amador Diez 2017 y ’61’ Dorado en Rama received at the ‘Frankfurt International Trophy’
La Seca, 27 April 2021.- Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ wines continue to harvest awards for their quality in the international competitions, as attested by the seven Gold medals several of the co-op winery brands received in two renowned German competitions: ‘Berliner Wine Trophy 2021’ and ‘Frankfurt International Trophy 2021’.
Also, two of the winning wines have won a gold medal in both contests: Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2017, the most artisan and unique product of the winery, made with grapes from a selection of the ten best pre-phylloxera hectares located in the provinces of Segovia and Valladolid, manual-harvested and a with winemaking process that seeks to improve its longevity; and ‘61’ Dorado en Rama, a non-vintage wine produced combining equal parts Verdejo variety—the most characteristic of designation of Origin Rueda—, and Palomino Fino—a varietal doomed to disappear since its cultivation is forbidden. However, the cooperative is taking good care of its century-old vines, intending to continue producing the original wines in the area.
The set of medals Cuatro Rayas received at the ‘Berliner Wine Trophy’ consists of two Gold awarded to Descomunal Verdejo 2020 and the organic Green & Social Verdejo 2020, a varietal wine that takes its name from the green philosophy driving the winery’s activity and defends the interdependence between environmental sustainability and the well-being of the people who live in the rural areas.
At the ‘Frankfurt International Trophy’—in addition to Amador Diez Verdejo Verdejo Cuvée 2017 and ‘61’ Dorado en Rama mentioned above—Cuatro Rayas received a Gold for Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2015, confirming the exceptionality of this unique wine for ageing.
