Best DO Rueda: Great Gold and three Golds
Bascarlón Verdejo gets Great Gold medal obtaining the highest score in the Ireland tasting round at the Best of Spain Challenge of the Spanish Tasters Union (UEC); Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo and Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios win a Goldo
La Seca, 29 March 2021.- The Spanish Tasters Union has published Ireland’s round results at the international Spanish wine contest Best of Spain Challenge 2020, where Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ Bascarlón Verdejo 2019 was awarded a Great Gold, reaching the outstanding score of 100 out of 100 points. This Verdejo from the co-op winery located in the province of Valladolid sweeps the board in all the parameters evaluated by the wine tasters: both in the global aspects and in the detailed ones, such as the appearance stage, the nose, and the palate. Thus, not only it becomes the best-scored wine from the Designation of Origin Rueda submitted to the competition, but it also becomes the highest-scored still white wine that entered the contest.
In addition to this awards, Bodega Cuatro Rayas gets two new Golds in Ireland to add to its medal table, that go to Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2019 and Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios Verdejo 2019. Both wines are two of the most emblematic brands of the winery located in La Seca, and they confirm the quality of the varietal DO Rueda wines of the co-op. Furthermore, the UEC Best of Spain Challenge competition held another tasting round in the Netherlands at the end of 2020, where Bodega Cuatro Rayas also received several awards for its wines. Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2019 was awarded a Gold, while the Tempranillo Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Ribera del Duero 2018 won a Silver in recognition of its quality.
