The strength of the brand, added to the growing demand for products with better value for money, have promoted the purchase of this DO Rueda wine on the shelves of the main Spanish supermarkets

La Seca, May 7, 2020.- Sales of Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo, a wine reference recognized for its peculiar orange band on its label, and flagship of the renowned Valladolid winery, have grown by 120% in the number of bottles in the last 4 months due to the impulse of the purchases of this wine in the main chains in Spain, as stated in the commercial reports of the cooperative of the Rueda Denomination of Origin that has distribution in El Corte Inglés, Carrefour, Día, Eroski, Froiz, Alcampo, Sabeco ( Simply), Unide, Gadis, Covirán, Ahorramás, Establishments Plaza, Supermarkets Villa de Madrid, La Despensa, La Salve, E.Lecrerc and Lupa, among others. In addition, other references of white and red wines from the winery, attached to the DO Rueda, DO Ribera and Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, have seen the number of bottles sold increased by 80% more in these commercial areas.

The analysis of the data from the winery’s commercial equipment shows that this increase seems to be a direct consequence of the increasing consumption of wine in homes due to the confinement derived from the State of Alarm. In the latest analysis of household consumption by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), it is shown with respect to the consumption of beverages in the food channel that Spaniards have notably increased their purchases of wine. In this sense, the European Committee of Wine Companies (CEEV) has highlighted in recent reports a decrease of 10% in the average price per bottle, as a result of the fact that high-end wines registered strong decreases in sales of between 25% and 70%, while, on the contrary, the sales of the cheapest appellations and white wines saw an increase in their commercialization.
