The winery offers a tribute to the figure of women in the world of wine with a wine tourism activity that will combine the role of women in its history with some of its elaborations under a female signature.
La Seca (Valladolid), February 26, 2020. On the occasion of the celebration of International Working Women’s Day, on March 7 the Bodega Cuatro Rayas wine cellar will host a wine tourism activity designed to highlight the role of women in the development of the world of wine in general, and the Lasecan cooperative in particular.
Those attending the guided tour will begin their tour of the winery’s facilities -which date back to 1935- knowing the origin of the cooperative and the functions that women performed both in the vineyard and in the production rooms in the first years of its development. While already in the eighteenth century some women like Nicole Barbe Ponsardin -Clickquot’s widow- put the special sensitivity of the feminine sense of smell at the service of the wine sector to determine the characteristics of a wine, in the fields of Castile and already in the twentieth century, the role of women in the wine sector was reduced to the first phase of winemaking: the reception and selection of the grapes. In memory of the work of these Lasecan women, the visitors They will be able to taste solera wine extracted directly from a demijohn , an essential element for the elaboration of the traditional fortified wines of the town.
The activity will continue to learn about the rest of the rooms and winemaking systems of the winery while they will be presented the different professional profiles that women carry out today at Cuatro Rayas , which as a company is particularly sensitive to Equality policies, being conciliation, the prevention of harassment or the fight against female underrepresentation some of the main axes of its Strategic Plan.
