The American publication recognizes the quality of this generous, safeguard of the Palomino in the DO Rueda, and highlights its strength and persistence in the mouth

January 9, 2020, La Seca (Valladolid) The Wine Advocate – founded by the renowned North American critic Robert Parker – has just released the results of its last Douro wine tasting, in which awarded outstanding scores to two wines made by the cooperative Bodega Cuatro Rayas. ’61’ Dorado en Rama – produced from a mixture of equal parts Verdejo and Palomino grapes – obtained 91 in recognition of its exceptional quality, while the 2018 vintage of the monovarietal Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios Verdejo was rated with 89 Parker points .

The publication with international prestige highlights that “’61’ Dorado en Rama is a wine in which its aging in old casks is especially appreciated, which give it powerful notes of dried fruit on the nose”; describes its color as amber and its palate as powerful and persistent, highlighting the warmth of its finish on the palate. The guide concludes by stating that this branch wine, compared to the traditional ’61 Dorado ‘, is “much more complex and clean and its aromas are presented in a much more defined way.”

Regarding the 89 points awarded to Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios Verdejo 2018, Parker’s critics state that this wine is fresh, light and with citric character and they clarify that – together with the characteristics of the Verdejo variety – a certain depth; about this wine they conclude that it is a “clean, pleasant and easy to drink” wine.

Parker Jr., one of the most prestigious international wine critics – uses a scoring system developed by the taster who gives it its name that catalogs the exceptional nature of the wines that evaluates.

The parameters analyzed according to this system belong to four categories: color and appearance, aroma and bouquet, flavor and aftertaste, and overall assessment, as well as their foreseeable future evolution. This quality scale is one of the most widely used systems internationally and the ratings issued by this publication have a high prescribing power among consumers.
