The oldest of the Cuatro Rayas Winery say that the origin of the wines from the cooperative winery is due to a doctor’s prescription. This story has a lot to do with the true promoter of the Lasecan winery, –today January 24– 85 vintages.
It was Fermín Bedoya, the local doctor, who brought together a group of winegrowers creating a cooperative that would allow them to get the most out of their work in the vineyards. With that peculiar medical ‘prescription’ – the one that advised joining a collective enterprise – it was impossible for things not to go well. The objective was to make the work of the vineyard profitable and to be able to commercialize everyone’s wine.
This recipe has survived to this day because, in the 21st century, the winery is still located in the same place and many grandchildren of those winemakers who believed and bet heavily on the rural doctor’s recipe are part of it. Today, without losing that philosophy or the human wealth of hundreds of winegrowing partners, the winery has been able to take on innovation, technology and the most cutting-edge marketing formats to market the wines of a wide mass of winegrowers that reach thousands of points of sale throughout the national geography. But few consumers, tasters of Cuatro Rayas wines, know that the secret is that the recipe of a rural doctor is still being followed today: unite to grow and prosper. Without a doubt, a thought without secrets, but with a lot of common sense.
