La Seca (Valladolid), May 5, 2017. The partners of Agrícola Castellana have approved this Sunday in an Extraordinary Assembly to modify the company’s corporate name by which in recent years it had been consolidated as its commercial name: Cuatro Rayas Winery, an appellation derived from the main brand of wine that it makes and that takes its name from the famous Verdejo grape plantation located between the towns of La Seca, Medina del Campo, Rodilana and Rueda.
The name update is the second in the history of the winery founded in 1935 as Bodega Cooperativa de La Seca; In 1946 it was renamed Agrícola Castellana, thus uniting both the Valladolid and Segovian wine growers who are part of it.
This last change has been carried out as part of the mandatory statutory amendment required in June of last year and that enabled these types of companies a period of two years to adapt to the new CyL Cooperatives law (2/2018, of 18 June, which modifies 4/2002, of April 11) and which was approved in the Cortes of Castilla y León with the consensus of all parliamentary groups with the aim of making these types of organizations more competitive.
The registered office is moved to the bottling logistics center
Within the statutory renewal, on the other hand, the registered office of the cooperative has been moved from the current facilities located within the urban area of La Seca to the new bottling logistics center located on the Camino de la Fuentecilla de la in the same town of Valladolid. .
This facility, which has involved investments worth around 6 million euros in recent years, is a fundamental pillar within the current 2018-2020 Strategic Plan in which the winery is immersed. Its main mission is to improve the standard of living of our partners and workers to guarantee generational change in rural areas, creating wealth and facilitating future employment. The partners of the winery, likewise, approved the modification of the bylaws to allow a weighted vote based on the hectares of vineyard, a new statutory feature with the aim of facilitating the promotion of investments in favor of the competitiveness of the winery of which they are part. more than 300 wine-growing partners in 30 towns and that allows more than 80 direct jobs in rural areas.
Tribute to former president Amador Diez
The assembly concluded with a meaningful act in which the widow of Amador Diez, in the presence of her children and grandchildren, discovered a commemorative plaque that shows that the bottling logistics center bears the name of the former president in recognition of his mark during two decades (1988-2009), a fundamental task in the future of the current Cuatro Rayas Winery.
